STANTON, Neb. -- A 17-year-old facing multiple felony charges related to a break-in and sexual assault pleaded guilty to three felony charges Monday.

Gabriel Safty, of rural Stanton County, entered guilty pleas to first-degree sexual assault, first-degree false imprisonment and terroristic threats. Prosecutors dropped charges of burglary, theft and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, as confirmed by the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office.

Safty, who is from just outside Leigh, had been due to face a jury trial next week prior reaching a plea deal with prosecutors on Monday.

Safty was arrested by the Stanton County Sheriff's Office following a vehicle pursuit on April 21. The chase occurred after Safty allegedly broke into a rural residence north of Leigh and sexually assaulted a woman. Authorities accused Safty of tying the woman up and threatening her at gunpoint.

According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger, Safty then stole the woman's vehicle and used it in the pursuit.

He was then taken into custody after the vehicle's tires were deflated and he fled on foot. The arrest was made in Cuming County, with authorities locating Safty on top of a livestock trailer near a rural residence.
