COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Columbus is gearing up for a new project that is set to change the game for athletes and sports enthusiasts in the area. Rob Marshall, program director of Columbus Fieldhouse said the complex is on track to be completed by the end of 2023.

“It's such a massive operation,” he said. “The facility is just enormous, and is going to have all kinds of activities for anybody of any age in the community.”

Construction on the Fieldhouse began in the fall of 2021, and the progress is moving along steadily. The new facility will feature state-of-the-art equipment and amenities, including an indoor track, basketball courts, a trampoline room and much more.

Supporters of the Fieldhouse also said that it will give Columbus area residents a great option to stay active during the winter months.

“It gives us a space that is unlike what any other community has,” he said. “Combine that with the indoor facility when we have so many months out of the year with (winter) weather, it gives us a chance to get out and move freely.”
