NORFOLK, Neb. -- Thursday during the Norfolk Classic's 1,600-meter race, Carson Noecker, of Cedar Catholic, and Isaac Ochoa, of Norfolk High, engaged in an exciting back-and-forth that ended with Ochoa winning by a margin of 1.42 seconds at Johnny Carson Field.

Despite not taking first place, Noecker's performance was still record-breaking, with his time of 4:17.80 breaking the Class C record of 4:18.6, previously set by Larry Kassebaum, of Hebron, in 1967.

Despite their fierce competition, Ochoa and Noecker shared a moment of mutual respect and admiration after the race. In the later 3,200-meter race, Noecker went on to win by 12 seconds with a 9:16.36 time.
