NORFOLK, Neb. -- A fire was reportedly started by towels in a dryer at a Norfolk business.

The Norfolk Fire Division said they responded to a dryer that was on fire at Divots Downtown at 10:25 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials said there was smoke coming from a utility room in the business. The smoke was reportedly coming from the dryer and the items inside were actively on fire.

According to authorities, firefighters were able to put out the fire in 10 minutes and ventilated the area in another 50 minutes.

NFD said the cause of the fire was the towels that had spontaneously ignited inside the dryer. The property is estimated to be worth about $150,000 and firefighters were able to prevent any damage to the structure. All damage was contained to the dryer where the fire started.

Officials said there were eight firefighters and three apparatus that put out the fire along with help from the Norfolk Police Division, NPPD, and Black Hills Energy. There were no injuries reported.
