LINCOLN, Neb. -- An Omaha native is returning to his home state to play for the Huskers.

Former Omaha Skutt standout Caden Becker, who started his college career at Wyoming, announced via social media on Monday that he is transferring to Nebraska.

"Blessed to announce my commitment to play at the University of Nebraska," Becker said in his tweet. "Dream come true."

Becker originally committed to the Cowboys as a quarterback before switching to defensive end this fall.

He is expected to play tight end or H-back for the Huskers. Now 6-foot-4, 230 lbs., Becker is joining the team as a preferred walk-on. He will have four seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting in his lone season in Laramie.

Becker earned Honorable Mention All-State Class B honors as a senior. He completed 66 of 156 pass attempts for 1,238 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions his senior season. He added 118 rushing attempts for 544 yards and eight rushing touchdowns in 2021. Becker combined for 1,782 yards of total offense for the season.

He led Skutt Catholic to an 8-4 overall record in 2021, with Skyhawks advancing to the semifinals of the state playoffs. Becker, who played for former Husker Matt Turman in high school, was also recruited by Northern Illinois out of high school.
