NORFOLK, Neb. -- A project to add numerous features to Norfolk's Johnson Park now faces a major hurdle.

According to the city agenda, Monday's council meeting will see members consider rejecting a bid for Johnson Park improvements.

The project which aims to install an ice rink, pedestrian bridge, and other park improvements has been planned since 2018.

However, the agenda claims the lone bid for the project is "substantially over the engineer's estimate."

Specific estimates and bid pricing are not currently listed in the city's agenda.

Engineers are supposedly looking to create smaller bid packages, by breaking up the project for better pricing.

More information is expected to be given during the city council meeting on May 15.
