NORFOLK, Neb. -- An animal shelter in northeast Nebraska held an annual event on Saturday.

The Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska held its annual vendor fair and garage sale Saturday morning.

It’s the third year the shelter has put on the event.

ASNN shelter manager Lisa Doescher told News Channel Nebraska why the shelter has decided to make the sale an annual one.

“We get donated a lot of supplies and sometimes we can’t use them,” Doescher said. “But we want to make sure that they get used in some sort of manner. We get a lot of things like bowls, harnesses, leashes, collars.”

Pet owners and their furry friends were ready to go at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Even these pups were excited to get in on some sales.

Doescher said that the shelter had a goal of raising a few thousand dollars.

“Money specifically that we are raising today is going to go towards food,” Doescher said. “We house about 100 animals here at the shelter and that’s a lot of food. So, it’s very expensive.”

There were 25 vendors from across northeast Nebraska selling a wide variety of goodies such as decorations and pet treats.

Doescher said that if somebody missed the event but would like to purchase any pet supplies, they can visit the shelter to see what retail items are available.
