Norfolk, Neb. -- News Channel Nebraska went to Norfolk Senior High on Thursday to watch the white team practice just days before the Northeast All-Star Game on Saturday. The team is lead by Head Coach Greg Wemhoff, who in over a decade has not coached an 11-man football team since his time at Battle Creek.

“It’s a great honor,” Wemhoff said. "It's an opportunity to work with a bunch of great coaches and it is also an opportunity to compete against a great coaching staff. They have a great team but the biggest and most enjoyable part is these young men. They are great kids, great leaders, and I am sure they are all great leaders in their schools. They are just a good group of young men that love to play the game of football and have fun. They’re doing a heck of a job and it has been a great week.”

Starting quarterback Aiden Kuester and Fullback/Linebacker Drew Beeson shared their thoughts preparing for the game.

“I’d say it’s definitely, you know, it’s really cool; it’s a cool honor to represent our team especially both of us playing each other in the championship this year. (Aiden and Drew) You know obviously we were both great teams this year,” Beeson said. “It’s fun to go and represent how great of teams we were and to show off some talents with our teammates and play with guys that we have played with during the season.”

Beeson glanced over at Kuester. “I don’t know what Aiden has to say about it, but it is a cool honor,” said Beeson.

Kuester agreed with Beeson as he shared his thoughts on the week.

“I think it’s really fun,” Kuester said. “You know, competing against them your whole high school career and seeing their success they have and coming together to build something that just in that week you build a good relationship with them and it’s really fun.”

Both the players and Wemhoff were asked what they thought it would take to get a victory on Saturday.

“That team that we’re going to play obviously they are going to be well coached,” Wemhoff said. “They have some great football players over there. We know we’re going to have our hands full and we’re going to have to play really good football, take care of the football, and be a physical team.”

Kuester shared the same thoughts on the team’s physicality.

“I would say we are a pretty aggressive team,” Kuester said. “I think we're a pretty physical team. I think everyone has a pretty big motor. They all want to go 100% all the time so I think that will be a good strength for us.”
