One person hospitalized after truck crashes into creek on Highway 275 near Pilger
PILGER, Neb. -- Traffic was heavily delayed in northeast Nebraska as several first responders dealt with a crash on Friday in Stanton County.
Fire and rescue units were on the scene near the intersection of Highways 275 and 15 just outside of Pilger.
According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger, a man was driving on Highway 275 west of Pilger when his truck blew a tire and caused him to go over Humbug Creek through a guard rail.
The vehicle was hauling metal products and landed on its top, Unger said. He said the jaws of life were used to extract the driver, and the 37-year-old Wisner man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Units from Pilger, Wisner and Norfolk were on the scene, according to Unger.
Seatbelts were reportedly not used and the truck is a total loss.
The accident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m., with traffic remaining impacted after 4:00 p.m.
