NORFOLK, Neb. -- The 16th Annual Rock Band Camp in Norfolk is in full swing as of Monday, and their concert will be on Thursday.

The Rock Band Camp is hosted by Midwest Music Center at their store in downtown Norfolk.

Midwest Music Center said there are 21 campers participating this year, ages 9 to 17.

All of the students arrived on Monday, and once they were checked in, Midwest Music Center owner, Chad Barnhill, said the staff works to form bands with the students.

Barnhill said this year there are four bands each with five to six members.

After forming the bands, the students then start rehearsing songs they will be performing in a final concert on Thursday, June 22.

Barnhill said that this year's concert will be held at The Cove, behind the Midtown Event Center, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Songs that concert goers will be hearing are from the 60s, 80s, and 2000s.

"During the camp, the goal is to teach the students what it's like to form a band, select songs, rehearse songs, put together a sound system, and many more fine details about the 'band life,'" Barnhill said.
