LINCOLN, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska baseball star will stay in-state for the start of his baseball career.

Brooks Kneifl announced his de-commitment from the University of Kansas State and committed to Nebraska.

The lefty from Wayne High School, who led Nebraska in all classes in strikeouts with 83, will join the Cornhuskers pitching staff.

Kneifl announced his decision via Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Brooks is the second member of the Kneifl family to play college baseball, joining his brother Jacob who plays at Wayne State College.

Kneifl helped Wayne get to the semi-finals in the Class C baseball tournament this spring.
