PIERCE, Neb. -- Long and tough days in the grueling heat isn’t new for Pierce County’s Emilee Olson.

Olson is gearing up for the Pierce County Fair Livestock Show, as she gets ready to show her sheep at the fair this weekend.

"Today is really the first day, like you mentioned," Olson said. "We brought our livestock in this morning when it was a little bit cooler, so we could set it all up before the day got super hot."

Olson has been showing livestock her whole life. She spends months preparing for the event and spends a lot of time with the animals. This weekend is like her Super Bowl.

"I have been working with my sheep ever since about late April and beginning of May," Olson said. "We go through a lot of shows and a really long feeding and exercise process, and just bonding before the fair."

After entering all the 4-H Livestock on Wednesday, and weigh-ins on Thursday, the showing begins at 8 a.m. on Friday. Olson will be showing her sheep at the competition for all of Pierce County to see.

"We all get together and we clean out the fair grounds, and we get all the pens and everything set up," Olson said. "It's really a good process."

The sheep shows also share times with the swine and goat shows. Olson claims she has been competing in these shows ever since she started coming here, and is ready for another challenge.

"I love the shows and getting ready for them. That's probably my favorite part," Olson said. "But other than that, I've grown to be, honestly, family with a lot of people here at the fair."
