Beemer man accused of making threats with dynamite charged with two additional felonies
MADISON, Neb. -- A northeast Nebraska man facing eight felony counts after allegedly making threats with a stick of dynamite faces two more charges brought forward by the state.
37-year old Kelly Red Tomahawk of Beemer, who was arrested in May for allegedly holding two women against their will, received two more felony charges.
Red Tomahawk was accused of making terroristic threats, a Class 3-A felony, and tampering with a witness, a Class 2 felony.
Red Tomahawk’s next appearance in court will be on Aug. 28 in the Madison District Court room.
In May, authorities received reports of two women being held against their will by Red Tomahawk, who was driving them into Norfolk.
All three reportedly got into the car at a home in Randolph where Red Tomahawk and one of the women were living. Court documents listed Red Tomahawk as being from Beemer.
The caller, who was not in the vehicle, said Red Tomahawk, had threatened to light the dynamite if law enforcement was called, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
Madison County Sheriff Todd Volk stated in a press release that one of the passengers was texting details to the caller.
Authorities stopped the vehicle, with deputies holding the car at gunpoint.
Nebraska State Patrol technicians cleared and secured the vehicle before testing the alleged dynamite. NSP officials determined that the item was indeed an explosive device.
Troopers also reportedly located three knives, a glass pipe with white residue and a glass container with suspected THC wax. According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the pipe tested positive for methamphetamine.
After the Madison County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Red Tomahawk and both women, Red Tomahawk was arrested and charged. He stated that he had been in an argument with one of the women, but he claimed that the dynamite was not his, and that he did not threaten her.
He faces two charges of terroristic threats, two charges of false imprisonment, possession of a destructive device, possession of a controlled substance, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
