Norfolk food truck win 'Best in Chow' on A&E show
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Leon’s Food Truck travels across Nebraska and a trip to the State Fair led to an appearance on a TV show.
Enrique Leon, owner of the food truck, said the show Best in Chow, on A&E, took a trip to the Nebraska State Fair last summer and he was asked if Leon’s would appear on the show.
“They’re like, ‘Have fun with it, man, just have fun with it. Be yourself and just have fun with it,’ so I did just that and it came out good," Leon said.
The episode premiered on Saturday and the truck’s crack quesadilla was the item of choice to appear on the show.
Leon said the experience on the show was great and getting the chance to share his food with everyone was fun.
Leon said he travels across the state for county fairs to keep him busy throughout the year and even landed an opportunity to meet Gov. Jim Pillen.
“It’s a lot of work," Leon said. "You got to be precise with it and you gotta keep up with the crowd because sometimes there’s just lines that you look out and you’re like, ‘Wow, I got a line from here all the way across the street.' You just got to keep going with the flow and busting out the food.”
According to Leon, the food truck has been in business for the past 15 years, and after his father wanted to relax, Leon has been in charge for the past three years.
The truck has not stopped in Norfolk for the past two months and Leon said he is happy to be able to be back in the town.
“I mean, I had to come back," Leon said. "It’s home base. I’ve been traveling all over Nebraska, and I was like, 'It’s time to go home for a little bit and give people something back there.'"
Leon will be back at the Nebraska State Fair and said he plans to have a new item for fair goers to enjoy.
