Newman Grove man arrested following protection order violation
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Authorities in northeast Nebraska arrested a Newman Grove man after he violated a protection order.
The Norfolk Police Division was called to an apartment in the 1000 block of Milan Drive on Saturday morning around 9:10 for the violation.
32-year-old Cesar Garcia was reported to be at the apartment and wouldn't leave, according to police.
NPD said the protected person was a resident of the apartment.
Before arriving, officers said they confirmed that Garcia had an active Madison County arrest warrant, and he had been issued a trespassing warning for the property.
When police arrived, they said they found Garcia sitting against the rear sliding door of the apartment.
NPD said they informed Garcia of the warrant and was asked to put his hands behind his back, but he did not.
Officers said they tried to handcuff Garcia, but he actively resisted and continued to try and pull away.
Eventually, NPD said they were able to handcuff Garcia and take him into custody.
Garcia was arrested for violation of a domestic abuse protection order, second-degree trespassing, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, and the Madison County arrest warrant.
He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
