MADISON, Neb. -- A Battle Creek man’s felony theft case is on track for an October jury trial after a pre-trial hearing on Friday.

Travis Belina, who faces two separate district court cases, appeared in court on Friday for a pre-trial hearing.

After waiving his right to a speedy trial in his two cases in August, Belina’s attorney Eric Hagen and county attorney Joseph Smith said the Oct. 16 jury trial will work for both parties.

A final pre-trial hearing will be held on Oct. 6 at 1 in the afternoon to finalize details.

Belina is facing a felony charge of theft of more than $5,000.

In court documents, prosecutors say Belina “did take or exercise control over movable property” exceeding $5,000.

Belina remains out on bond in both cases.
