NORFOLK, Neb. — Nucor Steel Corporation and Nucor Steel Nebraska held their 50th anniversary and were joined by politicians to celebrate the event on Friday.

Gov. Jim Pillen, First Congressional District Representative Mike Flood, and District 19 Nebraska State Senator Robert Dover all sent congratulatory videos for those in attendance.

Flood talked about the milestone the business reached in Norfolk.

“Today, we are celebrating 50 years of Norfolk Bar Mill. I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned about this company,” Flood said.

Pillen described how reaching the milestone shows the dedication of the workers.

“A milestone like this comes due to hard work and dedication and persistence,” Pillen said.

A history video and a newspaper article from the 1960’s showed how the plant operates and where the plant came from.

Nucor has 26 operating steel mills and has 1,200 Nucor teammates working in the Norfolk area.
