CARROLL, Neb. -- The streets of Carroll remain quiet Friday morning, but come Sunday afternoon Main St. will be all hustle and bustle.

This Sunday is the 10th annual Cars-N-Carroll Show & Shine.

Over 1,000 people will fill up Main St. showing new or vintage cars off.

"People love it. They love to bring their cars here this time of the year. It's one of the last shows in the year," said organizer Jane Dolph.

Registration begins at nine a.m. for those interested in showing off their cars and just about any kind of vehicle is allowed.

"We have seen all kinds of cars from 1923 models to 2022 models. If you love it, bring it, show it off because each car has its own history," Dolph said.

The town of Carroll is home to 191 people.

The event is the only one every year that brings traffic through the town.

The community looks forward to it every year.

"We have great local support from the people in Carroll. A few years ago our goal was to reach the number of cars on the population sign. At that time the sign said 237 cars, and that year we reached 239 cars," Dolph said.

Last year over 300 cars rolled through Carroll, but if cars aren't your thing, there will be plenty more to do here on Sunday.

The event will feature kids' activities such as coloring shirts which will raise funds for the Parks and Recreation fund as well as a raffle with proceeds going to cemetery upkeep.

"A lot of people don't know where Carroll, Nebraska is, so it brings them to Carroll to see everything Carroll has to offer," said organizer Gina McDonald.

A multitude of vendors will be set up along the streets and in the Carroll Auditorium.

Food and live music performed by Dave Merkel will also be provided.

"You will be surprised. The whole street is lined up with cars, the park is full of vendors, the auditorium is full of vendors, the food trucks, it's huge," McDonald said.

"It goes from a town that doesn't have much going on to a town that just blows up in one day," Dolph said.

At the end of the day, different awards are handed out to car owners from a wide range of categories.
