Ex-NFAT director sees bond increase to $1 million

MADISON, Neb. — After having his case bound over to district court, a bond review hearing increased former North Fork Area Transit director Jeffery Stewart’s bond to $1 million.
According to court documents, Stewart’s attorney Matthew Headley requested to remove two conditions on his client’s bond: posting it in open court and removal of not leaving the state of Nebraska.
The state submitted on the bond being posted in open court but objected to the request of Stewart being allowed to leaving Nebraska.
Due to Stewart previously leaving the country, the court overruled the request on the bond in open court and denied Stewart’s request to leave the state.
His bond was originally set at $500,000 prior to his appearance on Friday.
Stewart’s bond was set at $1 million and is set to appear for a bond hearing on Oct. 3 and arraignment on Oct. 12 in Madison District Court.
