NORFOLK, Neb. -- With the fall and winter seasons coming up, be sure to bundle up because the temperatures are going to drop significantly. But what about the people that can't afford jackets and blankets to keep themselves and their family warm? Well, V’z Oddz and Endz may have an answer.

Winter conditions are harsh for those who aren’t properly equipped to handle the cold. While some may feel hopeless, V’z Oddz and Endz offers jackets, blankets and even hot soup to those in need.

“My mom, who is one of our main owners in the face of the store, used to work in the school, the public school system, and a lot of them she knows families that struggled just providing gloves and coats for their own kids,” said Elizabeth Vosburg, store worker. “So, we contact them every year when we have extra of something.

The store utilizes a program that helps give back to the homeless and other families in need.

“One thing that we generally do all year round that most people don't realize that we do is our 'Love Cycled Program,' which is basically a whole 'Pay It Forward' system,” Vosburg said. “People can either donate items to be put towards that, or they can also just donate money in general. And, that helps those that may not be able to afford coats or even as far as food since we offer homemade soup.”

Vosburg highlights the homeless population in the city of Norfolk and northeast Nebraska.

“Norfolk does have homeless people that people just choose to ignore. We get some downtown that just sleep on the benches,” Vosburg said. “It offers them a chance to make sure to get a warm meal every day.”

At Vz Oddz and Endz, they have a motto for their customers.

“Our motto is people don't go home hungry,” Vosburg said. “So that includes everyone.”

If financial situations are dire, V'z Oddz and Endz will try their best to accommodate the cost of the items.

If you are nowhere near V’z Oddz and Endz, there are other resources around the state that provide similar services such as the Salvation Army and other thrift stores.
