WSC's Jett Janssen named to Academic All-America Football Team

WAYNE, Neb. -- A football player at Wayne State College was named to the 2023 Academic All-America Football Team.
Jett Janssen was selected by the College Sports Communicators to join the 2023 Academic All-America Football Team, earning Second Team honors.
This is the second straight season that a Wildcat football player has been named CSC Academic All-America Second Team after linebacker Alex Kowalczyk received the honor last season.
Janssen, a 6-4, 280-pound junior offensive lineman from Lincoln, (East HS), maintains a 3.91 grade point average majoring in health and physical education. He’s a three-year starter on the Wildcat offensive line at left tackle, anchoring an offensive line that allowed an NSIC-low six sacks this season. This season, Janssen was an All-NSIC First Team selection and was later voted to the CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Second Team. Last season as a sophomore Janssen was named All-NSIC Second Team and he is now a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team selection.
Janssen has helped Wayne State to records of 7-4, 9-3 and 8-3 in his three years as a starter on the Wildcat offensive line with one NCAA playoff appearance and one Northern Sun Conference championship (2022). He is the ninth player in program history to earn Academic All-America honors.
Wayne State finished the 2023 season with an 8-3 overall record and was fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 7-3 league mark.
