Four-vehicle accident leaves one injured in Madison Monday morning

MADISON, Neb. -- Authorities responded to a four-vehicle accident early Monday morning.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office said that just after 6 a.m., they, along with the Nebraska State Patrol, responded to the multi-vehicle accident.
The accident happened south of Madison on Highway 81 near 826th Road.
MCSO said that the southbound lanes were closed from the time of the accident until just before 8 a.m.
The Sheriff's Office said that the first driver, a 37-year-old woman, lost control due to icy conditions and came to a stop in the southbound lanes.
Her vehicle was then struck by the second driver, a 40-year-old woman, followed by two more vehicles that were unable to stop and hit the first two.
MCSO said a mix of fog, freezing rain, and ivy roads contributed to the accident. One of the four drivers was taken to a local hospital, where they were treated for their injuries.
