MADISON COUNTY, Neb. -- A teenager involved in a two-vehicle crash has passed away from her injuries.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office announced Monday that 17-year-old Zoey Watson had passed away on Sunday following injuries she received in a car accident on Saturday.

In a press release provided by authorities, officers responded to an accident along the intersections of 547th Ave. and 832nd Road at 10:50 a.m.

Deputies said it was a two-vehicle accident that occurred when a 2016 Chevy Trax was going south on 547th Ave. and t-boned a 2003 Ford F150 that was going east on 832nd Road, causing both to roll over.

According to authorities, the 17-year-old driver of the Chevy was trapped inside until a passerby was able to be able to get them out and was later transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

MCSO stated that both occupants of the Ford were ejected including Watson, who was the driver and pinned underneath the vehicle, and the 15-year-old passenger, who was found 30 yards away. Both were reportedly taken by Life-Net to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Police said they believe the driver of the Chevy had been wearing a seat belt as well as the passenger of the Ford, while Watson was not.

An account has been set up in Watson's name at Elkhorn Valley Bank for anyone that would like to donate to the family.
