Two Northeast Community College officials considered for regional awards
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Two officials from Northeast Community College are being considered for awards in the Association of Community College Trustees’ western region.
Dirk Petersen and Lisa Guenther of Norfolk have been considered for the awards. ACCT’s western region covers 10 states and five Canadian provinces and territories.
The award recognizes tremendous contributions made by faculty and executive members.
Petersen shared his honor, after being nominated for the trustee of the year award.
“Out of all the awards I have gotten in my life, that one was probably right up there with the top ones simply because, when you have your peers do something like that, it really means a lot,” Petersen said. “You know, I’m not the type that is doing this stuff for awards. I’m doing it because I want to help the college succeed. Our goal is to provide success for our students because that is the ultimate thing that we are there for at our college, and that’s why we have our board and what we do.”
If either were to win, they would move on to be considered for the national award.
Petersen is best known in his role with the company's Nucor as a CEO and engineer. Guenther has been teaching at Northeast Community College for decades.
