Rescue crews search private lake, missing person's body recovered
NORFOLK, Neb. -- One person was reported missing in a private lake on Sunday evening.
Norfolk Police, along with the Madison County Sheriff's Office, are searching for a person after a report came in of one subject disappearing under the water.
NPD said that around 7:14 p.m. Sunday, they recovered the body of a 29-year-old man from the water.
Norfolk Police said they are actively investigating the incident.
Just before 6 p.m. Sunday, three witnesses said that the man was swimming in the lake, went underwater, and did not resurface.
Norfolk Rescue activated their water rescue team, when they arrived,.
Boat crews had launched to search the area, drones were used as well.
Madison County Sheriff's Office, the Battle Creek Fire & Rescue and Hadar Fire & Rescue provided mutual aid in Norfolk during the search and recovery.
