NSP says pilot is dead in one of two plane crashes in NE Nebraska
NORTHEAST NEBRASKA -- The Nebraska State Patrol reported that the pilot involved in a Knox County crash was killed on Monday morning.
Authorities were called to the scene around 9:30 Monday morning for a report of a plane crash approximately 4 miles southwest of Crofton in Knox County.
First responders, including the Nebraska State Patrol and Knox County Sheriff's deputies, located the pilot of the aircraft, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pilot was the lone occupant of the aircraft at the time of the crash.
The name of the pilot will be released following notification of the family.
Details remain sparse regarding the crash in Wayne County.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
Additional details will be released by the department when available.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was contacted and will investigate both crashes.
The NTSB posted on X (formerly Twitter) Monday afternoon that the plane involved near Crofton was a Rans S-19, while the plane involved near Wayne was a Piper PA-28-140.
