Fatal plane crash kills pilot in Wayne County
WAYNE, Neb. -- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the pilot involved in a Monday morning plane crash is dead.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Jason Dwinell, deputies, along with the Nebraska State Patrol responded to a report of a plane crash around seven miles north and three miles west of Wayne.
The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene, and his identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting investigations into the cause of the plane crash.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol were assisted by the Wayne Fire Department, emergency management from Wayne, Cedar, Dixon, and Stanton counties, and Nebraska Game and Parks
The crash happened the same day a separate plane crash southwest of Crofton killed 73-year-old Joseph Rudloff.
The cause of that crash is still under investigation.
