Tanker truck vs. tractor accident leaves two in the hospital
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Multiple people are injured following a crash involving a tanker truck and a tractor in northeast Nebraska.
The accident happened around 3:04 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 275 and 549 Ave., which is three miles west of Norfolk. Video from the scene shows a tanker truck off the highway in a corn field and a tractor towing two grain carts off to the side. One of the carts spilled grain on the road.
LifeNet Medical Helicopter was on scene and transported one patient to a hospital. An ambulance transported a second person to a hospital.
The Nebraska State Patrol said a tractor hauling soybean in a grain cart was heading west on Highway 275 when it was rear-ended by a semi/tanker trailer.
The driver of the tractor was the one taken to a hospital by ambulance where they were treated and released. The driver of the semi was the one flown to a hospital, where they are reportedly in stable condition.
The accident caused the soybeans to spill on the road, which was closed for two hours during clean up.
Authorities are still on scene investigating the crash.
