St. Paul Lutheran School starts new build & renovations
NORFOLK, Neb. -- St. Paul Lutheran school has not had a major improvement since 2012. Before that, it was well into the sixties. Now, it is getting some much needed updates along with a brand new building joined to the old structure.
Scott Uecker, St. Paul’s building Chairman said, “We have started construction for something that is long over due. We are currently building an activity center that will have an adjoining commons area, office, new kitchen with concessions, bathrooms, and a library.”
During the schools talk of rebuilding was the issue of what could also be done to make improvements on the old gym. Due to many events and the growing size of kids in sports, the schools gym leaves little to know standing room or sitting for fans.
Students also expressed the hardship of practicing in such tight areas, low ceilings, and using the wall as an out of bounds line.
Once funds had been made to get the project up and off the ground, Principal Aaron Markgraf mentions, “We made the decision to go forward and build a regulation size gym. This will give room for sports players to stand out of bounds and have more than enough space between them, the line, and the wall. It will also have a complete 3 point line, and high ceilings.”
Scott Uecker said, “We anticipated the build to be completed by basketball season. That might not be possible but if all continues to move forward, we could have events and people in this space by April of 2025.
