LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Nebraska System continues to be a key driver of the state's economy, with its annual economic impact reaching $6.4 billion.

A new report presented to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents highlights a $600 million boost to the state’s economy over the past three years, fueled by the NU system.

For every $1 invested by the state, $10 is returned. The combined economic impact of the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Medicine now totals $11.9 billion, supporting 52,335 jobs statewide.

Federal research funding has also increased by 20%. University President Dr. Jeffrey Gold outlined a new strategic plan aimed at further elevating the university’s impact, with the goal of making Nebraska one of the nation’s top public universities by 2025.
