HARTINGTON - The Boone Central girls continued their winning ways and the Cedar Catholic boys started off the season in style as the Cardinals and Trojans split their doubleheader Friday night.

After a 10-2 start by Cedar, the Lady Cards went on a 10-0 run to end the first quarter and never looked back, winning going away 59-48. Addy Hedlund led the way for Boone Central with 23 points, while Braylee Young chipped in 12 and Myah Rankin came off the bench to score 7. Anisten Wortmann topped all Trojan scorers with 18, and Lauren Bernecker contributed 9.

The Trojans boys avenged the loss with a 58-44 win in a back-and-forth affair. Boone led by 3 at the break, but Cedar outscored the Cards by 17 in the 2nd half. Jamison Cattau provided the biggest spark for the Trojans, scoring 17, with Nolan Becker kicking in 11. Connor Christo paced Boone with 11, while Kaden Miller scored 10 off the bench.

Boone Central (2-0 girls, 0-2 boys) head to Central City on Thursday, while Cedar Catholic (1-0 boys, 0-1 girls) is home against Roncalli Catholic tonight.
