Two Doane women's basketball players were named GPAC athletes of the week for their efforts in the Tigers' close loss to a nationally ranked NAIA team over the weekend.

The conference didn't bestow any awards during the week of Christmas, meaning Doane women's basketball has now swept the league awards the last two weeks they were bestowed.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Basketball Players-of-the-Week

Offensive – Megan Chambers, Doane University (Forward)

Megan Chambers of Doane University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women's basketball offensive player-of-the-week.  Chambers, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, scored a career-high 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds in Doane's two-point loss to No. 22 Mayville State. She was 11-of-15 from the floor in the game and is shooting 58.4-percent from the floor on the season.

Defensive – Grace Thompson, Doane University (Guard)

Grace Thompson of Doane University is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women's basketball defensive player-of-the-week.  Thompson, a sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska, tied for the team lead in steals against NAIA No. 22 Mayville State with two. One of her steals came in the final five seconds of the third quarter that she turned into a layup to beat the buzzer to give the Tigers momentum heading into the final quarter. She added four defensive rebounds in the game and had a blocked shot.

Doane women's basketball recovered from that setback by defeating Bellevue on Monday, but that game is outside the scope of this particular award.
The Tigers will kick off play in 2025 tonight against Dordt, the reigning NAIA champions in women's basketball.
