NORFOLK, Neb. -- No matter where you live, daycare is a crucial need in any community. Healthy Village Daycare in Norfolk is making waves with their innovative approach and heartfelt vision on raising kids.

In their beginnings and unique methods they employ to stand out from the rest, Healthy Village Daycare Owner & Director Holly Ruge said, "We have talked about it for years. When we found this building, I already had three children and was pregnant with my fourth. We thought, what better time than now? So I also brought in my other sister In-law, Jenna."

"She is my assistant director, and we all worked our brains together. We decided to have the daycare here and we kind of just put together the pieces of the vision that we had always planned to have."

To make parents feel safe and involved. Healthy Village has set up an app called Pro Care. It gives parents a daily update on what is being done throughout the day.

Each of the kids has their own portal and parents can get updates on crafts, potty time, diaper changes, bottle feeding, and food services anytime throughout the day.

Another thing that is significant about Healthy Village Daycare is their approach on what foods are served. Healthy Village toys incorporate a healthy baseline of foods, fresh air, using foods without dyes in their products, and staying organic as possible with natural made foods.

One mother (Erica Drake) who saw such an impact it had on other kids, changed the way she shops at the grocery stores.

"My kids eat broccoli once a week here. They don't eat it at home for some reason, but they eat it no problem here. So it's a really healthy food," Daake said. "But just as a parent, since starting here, they've really made me more health conscious. So, you know, we go to the store and whereas before I would have just grabbed a cereal that I knew my kids would eat off the shelf. Now, It's like I kind of look at it and I go, "Oh man, I can't feed them that."

"No matter what child comes through the doors of Healthy Village daycare," Holly Ruge said. "They are all my kids. In my care, there's not anything that would get in the way between me and them. Their parents trust me to keep them safe and protected each and every day. You're just teaching them each moment of every day on how to be patient, be loving, nurturing, and be kind."
