Midday update on power outages in Nebraska
NEBRASKA -- Tens of thousands of Nebraskans were without power at mid-morning as high winds downed power lines all over the state.
Omaha Public Power District said that almost 30,000 customers were in the dark as of midday.
About half of those outages were reported in Douglas County, but thousands were also powerless in Saunders and Dodge counties, particularly near towns like Arlington, Yutan and North Bend.
Meanwhile, Nebraska Public Power District said they were working to restore power to over 11,000 statewide.
The amount of residents without power number in the thousands in towns like York, Aurora and Geneva.
The issue has been the ongoing whiteout conditions, which utility officials said have made it difficult for crews to get to where the outages are centered.
