Two Norfolk World War ll veterans honored for service
Two Norfolk veterans and their families are celebrating some new honors.

NORFOLK, Neb. — Two Norfolk veterans and their families are celebrating some new honors.
The city joined in on Gov. Jim Pillen’s initiative to recognize Nebraska World War ll veterans on the 80th anniversary of the end of the war. The council presented medals and certificates to Willard Johnson and Orville Eden on Monday. The duo also received a special send off from local law enforcement, firefighters and servicemen.
Johnson is 99 years old and served in the Army Air Corps. The recognition was extra special for Eden, who was celebrating his 99th birthday on Monday. He served in the Navy.
Pillen is inviting Nebraskans to apply to receive a recognition medal online.
The crowd at the council meeting gave the veterans a standing ovation.
