Locally owned gas station opens 2nd location in Norfolk
NORFOLK, Neb.- A new gas station is officially open in Norfolk, bringing the fourth location in northeast Nebraska for a locally owned business.
Prime Stop originated in 1989 in Wisner by local couple Herb and Kathy Albers. They added a Wayne location shortly after in 1997.
The first Norfolk location opened 22 years ago on the north side of town. Now the south side has joined the crew cutting the ribbon Wednesday.
The family still owns the locations with the help of their children, Holly, Jeff and Matt who say they could not have done it without their parent’s vision for serving northeast Nebraska.
“It is very exciting. We’ve been doing this since 1988 and it’s just great to have another location,” Prime Stop Co-owner and Manager Matthew Albers said. “And serve this part of Norfolk the has been underserved by gas stations and convenience stores.”
An ongoing food drive is being held at the location for the Norfolk Food Pantry. Anyone who brought a donation Wednesday received a free treat.
A few years ago the company partnered with Sinclair to provide diesel and regular gas for all types of vehicles.
Right now the business has limited hours but will be adjusting to be open 24 hours a day in the future.
"Norfolk South" is located at 1201 Primestop Way, Norfolk, NE near the intersection of Highways 275 and 24
