NORFOLK, Neb. — The Norfolk Police officer who was injured in a Sunday crash has been discharged from the hospital and is doing well, according to a police social media post.

The post identified the officer as Erik Hobart.

“While he’ll be away from work for a bit as he recovers, he stopped by the police station to let everyone know he’s okay and to say hello to his coworkers,” the post said.

Police say Hobart was driving an arrestee to the Madison County Jail early Sunday morning. As he was slowing to turn, a pickup hit his police SUV from behind. Hobart and the pickup driver were both eventually transported to an Omaha hospital for treatment. The arrestee was treated and released. Police have not updated the condition of the pickup driver or if criminal charges will be filed.

Police said in the post that they plan to release a video of the accident and the emergency response.
