LINCOLN, Neb.-- Nebraska’s governor is making a move to crack down on what he calls a dangerous THC market.

Governor Jim Pillen signed the order Monday that directs state agencies to review their laws regarding these products.

THC products such as Delta-8 and Delta-10 are often sold in gummy, drink, and drops which are chemically altered to produce psychoactive effects.

“We must be able to protect our kids from these products. They’re marketed like something they are not and the hemp industry is taking advantage of that fact,” Gov. Pillen said.

In March, Attorney General Mike Hilgers issued cease & desist letters to 104 retail locations and franchised stores in Omaha selling illegal or unlawful THC-containing products. 

"As we continue to fight the active poisoning of our communities, the tools in this order will help ensure that products not fit for human consumption are taken off retail shelves," Attorney General Mike Hilgers said in a news release . “This order sends a clear directive to keep these products out of Nebraska.”

The order comes after President Trump signed a resolution late last year that will make these products federally illegal starting in November.
