OMAHA, Neb. -- A 32-year-old Omaha man was sentenced in federal court on meth charges.

Acting United States Attorney Steven Russell announced that Trenton D. Washington was sentenced to 30 months in prison on Wednesday for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. There is no parole in the federal system. After his release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.

On March 29, 2021, Omaha Police officers responded to investigate a reported disturbance on Ames Avenue. Officers contacted the reporting party, who stated that he was sitting inside of his office building when he heard a loud crash. The reporting party called 911 when he realized someone, later identified as Washington, threw a brick through a rear window of his office building.

The caller confronted the defendant in the parking lot. Washington displayed a firearm and made threats towards the reporting party, who responded by displaying his own firearm to Washington. The reporting party had a valid license to carry a concealed weapon. Washington retreated to a nearby apartment complex and entered an apartment on the back side of the building.

When officers arrived, they contacted Washington and another man as they exited the apartment. The other man identified himself as the apartment renter and Washington was arrested. The renter gave the police permission to search his residence, where they found a Sig Sauer P238 .380 caliber handgun within a cabinet. The firearm had previously been shipped and transported in interstate commerce.

Washington had previously been convicted of several felony offenses in the District Court of Douglas County, .
