Norfolk Public Schools names finalists for interim superintendent

NORFOLK, Neb. — The Norfolk school board is moving forward with the process of finding an interim superintendent.
The board announced two finalists for the position on Wednesday. District leaders will interview Lynn Johnson of Ceresco and Bill McAllister of West Point for the job on April 28th. The selected candidate will replace Dr. Jami Jo Thompson, who is resigning to take the superintendent job in Rapid City, SD. Thompson started in her role in Norfolk in 2013.
Johnson most recently worked as superintendent at Raymond Central schools north of Lincoln before retiring in July. She has also worked as an administrator at Arlington Public Schools.
McAllister worked as interim assistant superintendent at South Sioux City from 2023-2024. He has experience as superintendent at both West Point-Beemer and West Holt. He ran for a spot on the Nebraska State Board of Education last year and lost to Lisa Schonhoff of Bennington.
The candidates will have separate interviews with the school board and a group of administrators. Upon completion of the interviews, the board will meet in executive session to make their selection. The interim superintendent will start on July 1.
