Rural Stanton County teen appears in court aiming to move trial back to juvenile court

STANTON, Neb. -- A 17-year-old from rural Leigh was in Stanton County District Court on Tuesday, putting forward a motion to move his case back to juvenile court.
The teen faces multiple felony charges involving a reported sexual assault of a woman at her rural Stanton County residence.
The Tuesday hearing took place with District Judge James Kube taking the motions under advisement. Kube will rule later this month.
The defendant was arrested by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office following the incident and a vehicle pursuit that ended near West Point.
In April, the Stanton County Sheriff's Office was called to the woman's home north of Leigh after she reported that an armed assailant broke into the home with a handgun and sexually assaulted her after tying her up and threatening to shoot her.
The defendant then reportedly stole the victim's SUV and fled the area toward Highway 32.
After a pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody after he was reportedly found hiding on the top of a livestock trailer at a nearby farm residence.
