Officials investigate wanton waste in Boyd County
GROSS, Neb. -- Officials said they are investigating the unlawful killing of six elk in Boyd County.
On Sunday, the Nebraska Game and Parks said the killing was in the Gross area including one bull, three cows, and two calves.
According to the Game and Parks, there was no attempt to salvage any part of the animals, committing wanton waste.
Wanton waste is when anyone who intentionally leaves/abandons edible portions of the game or fails to depose of the game in a reasonable and sanitary manner.
Officials said if anyone has any information that may be helpful to this investigation, contact the Sheriff's Office directly at 402-775-2331. Reports can be done anonymously.
Nebraska Game and Parks said there is a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
