NEBRASKA -- A winter storm is expected to hit areas in northeast Nebraska this weekend.

The Region 11 Emergency Management announced that Antelope, Madison, and Pierce Counties are predicted to receive a winter storm this weekend that will continue to the next week.

Officials said winds are predicted to reach up to 40 mph with a wind chill of as low as -45 degrees and snow, creating a dangerous situation.

The news release states that travel will be dangerous at this time and there is an increased risk of frostbite or hypothermia in these conditions.

Officials advise making preparations before the storm hits the area.
