Norfolk man arrested in Woodland Park following short pursuit

Law enforcement in northeast Nebraska arrested a Norfolk man following a brief pursuit.

WOODLAND PARK, Neb. -- Law enforcement in northeast Nebraska arrested a Norfolk man following a brief pursuit. 

The Stanton County Sheriff's office said that Friday morning around 1:20, they saw a vehicle speeding on Old Highway 35 near Woodland Park. 

Officers said they tried to pull over the speeding vehicle. Instead, the vehicle sped away, quickly turning into Woodland park at high speeds. 

According to the Sheriff's Office, the driver tried to avoid being law enforcement by making several quick turns on the residential streets before they finally stopped on Kimberly Way. 

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Lochlan Simonson. 

Simonson was found to be intoxicated, along with having a revoke driver's license. 

He was arrested and booked for charges of speeding, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, driving during suspension, aggravated DWI after testing twice the legal limit. 

He is in jail pending posting a cash bond.
