NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk Public Schools announced on Monday who will be replacing Brian Disch as the Head Baseball Coach for the high school.

Sean Wetterberg will be filling in the cleats of Disch starting next season at Norfolk High School.

Wetterberg was previously the head coach of the varsity baseball team from 2014 to 2018. He has been the assistant coach for the last seven season.

From 2021 to 2024, Wetterberg was the assistant varsity softball coach.

In addition to coaching high school, from 2014 to 2017, he was the head coach of the Norfolk Senior American Legion Baseball team. He was also the assistant seniors coach in 2024.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Coach Disch for the incredible work he has done in leading this program and for the mentorship he has provided me over the years," Wetterberg said. "His dedication to Norfolk Baseball has left a lasting impact, and I am honored to follow in his footsteps. I have had the privilege to work with many great coaches throughout my coaching career. Their guidance has provided me with invaluable lessons on leading a successful program and fostering a positive culture, which will serve as a foundation as I strive to develop our athletes both on and off the field."

“Coach Wetterberg has really grown as a coach over the last 7 years as an assistant," said John Erwin, Norfolk High Activities Director. "He is determined to continue to build and improve the program. He has a lot of the coaching qualities that we look for in coaches who are going to lead our programs. I am excited to see where Coach Wetterberg takes the program.”
