ST. PAUL - Turnovers turned into twin killings as the Boone Central boys and girls fell to St. Paul Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Wildcats (5-4) came roaring out of the gate to an 11-0 lead and never looked back, thanks in large part to Olivia Poppert's game-high 15 points. The Cardinals (3-7) made it a game in the 2nd quarter, sparked by Mara Ranslem's steals and a big late 1st-half 3-pointer, cutting the deficit to 6 at the break.

But too many turnovers turned the tide for St. Paul, as Boone Central gave the ball up 14 times, and the Lady Cats won going away, 42-32. Macy Rankin topped all Cardinal scorers with 13 points.

Tommy + turnovers added up to a Wildcats boys win, as St. Paul senior Tommy Wroblewski was borderline unstoppable with a stunning 31 points. Boone Central (4-6) started out hot with a 5-0 lead, but that quickly dissipated in the form of 23 turnovers. The Wildcats (8-1) sprinted to a 10-point halftime lead, and held serve in the 2nd half, en route to a 63-45 victory. Alex Christo came off the bench to lead all Cards scorers with 9.

Boone Central is back home Friday against O'Neill, while St. Paul is at Columbus Scotus on Tuesday.
