Rolle Bolle kicks off its fourth year in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Neb. - A summer activity rolled into its fourth year in Norfolk on Thursday.

Rolle Bolle is an outdoor activity where the goal is to try and get the bolle closest to the pin to earn points. The first team to eight wins. 

The local group in Norfolk was started up by Andy Peitzmeier after a visit to Arizona.

"They were playing Rolle Bolle down there, so I thought 'hey, I can bring this back to Nebraska and see if I can get it started."

To some players, Rolle Bolle couldn't have come at a better time. 

"Now that it is getting nice and people can be with each other again," said Lynn Matthies, "I think this is a really great way to be outside and be with people and do something fun and just to laugh and have a good time."

Matthies started playing last year.

"We were initially going to watch and then they said 'oh just throw a bolle', and then...it was just fun," Matthies said.

She says it wasn't what she expected.

"It's really been interesting, and a lot harder than it looks," Matthies said.

The group plays every Thursday at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Ta-Ha-Zouka park near the horseshoe courts
