WINSIDE, Neb. -- Unofficial election results are in from Wayne County, and it appears Winside Public Schools will be receiving new funding.

The residents of Winside voted on Tuesday whether or not to approve a $14,670,000 school bond to renovate and repair the school's facilities.

Preliminary results showed 341 people voting for the school bond and 120 people voting against. The vote is the culmination of a nearly decade-long task force established to determine the future of the school and what it needed to grow and improve.

The school district's stated plan is to add a dedicated ag facility for an ag-focused community, create more classrooms, and consolidate facilities under a single roof. The school also hopes to improve and update aging plumbing, electrical systems, security and handicap accessibility.
