Company proposes carbon-capture pipeline across region, including Nebraska

A Dallas-based company wants to build a 1,200-mile pipeline system across five Midwestern states that would carry liquefied carbon dioxide to permanent storage sites, and it appears northeast Nebraska is on the proposed route.
Navigator CO2 said in a statement Tuesday the project would provide its industry partners what they call a holistic approach to shrinking their carbon footprints.
The company said in the statement it had a partnership with BlackRock Global Energy & Power Infrastructure Fund to develop the pipeline. A map for the pipeline shows its route running through northeast Nebraska, but company officials say the exact pipeline route is subject to change.
The company said its ultimate goal is to expand capacity to 12 million metric tons of liquified CO2. They say they are still in the process of gauging interest in the project from potential customers.
