LINCOLN, Neb. -- Gov. Pete Ricketts has issued a new executive order that he says will help address the gasoline supply shortage in the Midwest.

The Ricketts administration said Friday that the supply is short due to refineries closing for maintenance as they transition for winter.

The order will temporarily waive hours of service restrictions for commercial drivers carrying gasoline and gasoline blends.

All drivers carrying gasoline under this order will also need to carry a copy of the executive order.

It will be effective through Aug. 31.
